Welcome to the Town of Palermo. Previous designations, Sheepscot Great Pond, Great Pond. Settled in 1778. Incorporated June 23, 1804 as the 156th town of Maine. Boundary between China and Palermo established March 15, 1830; Part set off to Washington April 11, 1854.

Major bodies of water include Sheepscot Pond, Sheepscot River, Turner Pond, several other streams and ponds.

Palermo is bounded North by Albion and Freedom ; East by Montville and Liberty ; South by Washington , Hibberts Gore and Somerville ; West by China.
