Welcome to the Town of Prospect. Names of Knoxburgh and Knoxbury suggested
in petitions for incorporation. Settled 1759. Set off from
Frankfort and
incorporated Feb. 24, 1794 the 85th town of Maine. Part set off to form part
of Searsport Feb. 13, 1845. Part set off to form Stockton (later changed to
Stockton Springs) March 13, 1857.
