This is a list of people who are researching their Merry ancestors. To get your name, and ancestry listed send an email to David Sylvester or write to me at 28 North Searsport Road, Searsport, Maine 04974 and include your full name, your email address or other contact info, where you're from, your Merry ancestry, links to other web sites, and additional information you'd like to include about your Merry family. Those who would like to share family data and sources may then contact you.

I'm now accepting narratives in Text, RTF, Word and PDF formats which I'll upload to the site to be downloaded by visitors. Also small gedcoms will be accepted.

The purpose of this site is to maintain as much data on Merry families as possible or to link to the location where it exists. Participation in this project is free. All who are interested may submit data or use the data they find here at no cost. There are never any dues or fees required and there is nothing to join. There are no advertisements and there is nothing to purchase.

As far as I know most Merry descendants in the United States trace their ancestry back to Joseph¹ Merry or Cornelius¹ Merry who were early immigrants. You might descend from one of them or from another line of Merrys in any country or you may not have found the progenitor of your line yet. All partial or complete Merry lines from any place are welcome here.

The following two generation descendancy chart of Joseph¹ Merry comes from "The History of Martha's Vineyard" by Dr. Charles Banks and transcribed at The MERRY Family of Martha's Vineyard; (Banks Vol. III, pp. 330-334.); and personal records.

Joseph¹ Merry born about 1607 most likely in England; died 15 April, 1710 on Martha's Vineyard; married Mary _____, who died 4 April 1657; married December, 1659 Elizabeth Parkhurst.

Children by first wife:

i Martha² born 1647; married Andrew Rankin; married Philip Frost.
ii Joseph² 19 December 1654.

Children by second wife:

iii Hannah² born 29 November 1660; married Benjamin Skiff.
iv Abigail² born 19 October, 1662; married John Pease.
v Bathsheba² born 16 June 1665; married Thomas Pease.
vi Samuel² born 16 November 1669; married Remember Luce.

The following two generation descendancy chart of Cornelius¹ Merry comes from Cornelius Merry Genealogy.

Cornelius¹ Merry born about 1641 in Ireland; died 1701 in Northampton, Hampshire County, Massachusetts; married Rachael Ball, born 1636 Northampton, Hampshire County, Massachusetts and died 1716 Northampton, Hampshire County, Massachusetts.
